Appreciate Life

General overview for April 2008.

April is going to be another relatively busy month as we have a total of 19 alignments.

There are more positive alignments (12) than the not so favourable ones (7).

The month starts with Pluto turning retrograde. This is not something I enjoy, but oh darn, I guess I just have to live with it. More about this further along.

There are three planets changing signs, namely Venus to Aries; then Mercury to Aries; Mercury to Taurus, and the Sun to Taurus, and then Venus to Taurus, in that order.

When planets are in Aries, we tend to rush around, do things in haste, and generally life tends to speed up somewhat. From 18th April Mercury will enter the stable, safe and secure sign of Taurus, followed by the Sun on 20th and then Venus at the end of the month. Things start to slow down during this time and we no longer feel that everything has to be done asap. We can ponder, or linger, take our time and mull over important decisions. Life feels calmer, and we are more content. Although some of us may get into the 'material girl mode' and head to the shopping mall. Some of us may even become quite slothful in our worst moments. We like to spend and we like the luxuries more often. However, we can also put good saving practices into effect now as we are also concerned about financial security. Maybe it is time we learn how to 'appreciate life', and what we have, rather than what we don't have.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: Pluto turns retrograde on 2 April; Mercury enters Aries on 3 April; there will be a New Moon on 6 April; Venus enters Aries also today; Mercury enters Taurus on 18 April; and the Sun enters Taurus on 20 April; and there will also be a Full Moon today; and lastly Venus enters Taurus on 30 April.

Moving right along...

Wedesday 2 April: Pluto turns retrograde and remains in this phase up until 8 September. This does not make me happy!! Hear that Universe? Whilst there are always opportunities to learn from deep inside ourselves during a Pluto retrograde phase, I still prefer this mover and shaker to be in direct motion. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess your current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards life, death, and even sex, to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, explore your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2008 after back-tracking into Sagittarius. Pluto will then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

Thursday 3 April: Mercury enters Aries and remains in this sign up until 17 April. The news is likely to be concerned with young people, winners of races and sporting events. Air travel problems are likely and anything where speed is going to be involved. People who tend to get headaches and nervous disorders may suffer more than usual.

Sunday 6 April: There will be a New Moon at 16 degrees of Aries. This can signal a time to challenge us to do our best, attempt to reach the goal first and to energise ourselves into putting more effort into what we want to start, and eventually complete. It is the natural time (annually) to try to make a new start and unify our energies, mind and muscles into action for the coming year.

Also today Venus will enter Aries and remain in this sign up until 30 April. This can generally mean a bonus time for hairdressers, when everyone wants to make their head (and any hair on it) look better. The hairdressing industry may have a boom time and find they are in the spotlight for some reason. If you want to make a good impression on someone, make sure your grooming is perfect, or forget it. We may witness many and varied new romances that can start quickly and go very swiftly and hastily through the motions towards a quick end. Dynamic sales pitches that involve appealing to the senses and to physical attraction, passion and romance can catch public attention at this time. The fashion industry may take on a bold and daring tone so be prepared for colourful, full-on and striking displays. Social gatherings that incorporate much glitter and glamour and sparkle will be successful. Artists and musicians can be highly productive during this time.

Friday 18 April: Mercury has speeded up and will now enter Taurus and remain in this sign up until 3 May. This will see a focus on financial matters, financial institutions such as banks and building societies and interest rates. The positives are that some people can use this time for serious mental concentration and get things done if they plod away long enough. Thoughts of stabilisation will be uppermost in various people’s minds. Someone connected with the arts may be in the news and receiving lots of attention. The negatives are that some will become opinionated and stubborn in their thinking and unable to move beyond their philosophical boundaries that are set in concrete. Some people will be immovable and unshakeable from their roots or their home turf.

Sunday 20 April there will be a Full Moon with the Sun at zero degrees Taurus and the Moon at zero degrees Scorpio and this can bring a show down of emotions where people are venting their feelings for all to see.

Also today the Sun will enter Taurus and remain in this sign up until 20 May. For a month long period there will be rigidity and stiffness associated with what some believe is the only way to go or get things done. Whilst this can be good in moderation, the side effects are that there will be little flexibility and this can cause aggravation and a one eyed view of the world. The banking and financial industries may undergo some restructuring. People will be looking for practical solutions to problems. Luxuries, materialism and comfort will be a priority for some. This can be a productive time for starting a new business, especially if you are prepared to put in the dedication of a long period of time. Quick results will not manifest during this time.

Wednesday 30 April: Venus will enter her own sign of Taurus and remain in this sign up until 25 May. This is a time when most will be focussing on the comforts of life and the material issues that affect us on a day to day basis. People will be looking for stability and safety connected to their resources. The musical and arts centres will be in focus as well as items of beauty, furnishings and all women’s products. A particularly good time to put your money into investments that centre around these products or services. There will be a particular announcement made this month concerning a love affair that will be put on more solid footing. Perhaps someone in a high position or connected to royalty makes an engagement announcement!

Jupiter will continue its transit of Capricorn and remain in this sign up until 5 April 2009. Now is the time to get serious about our personal lives, our goals and assess what our real responsibilities are, to ourselves and to others. It is a time of planning and preparation for the future. This could also prove to be a fortunate time to invest in the property market, buildings or in any solid and long established company. Taking care of our planet and the environment will also become of paramount importance to many people who will do whatever they can to protect our children and their future on this wonderful planet we call Earth.

Saturn continues in its retrograde motion and remains in this phase up until 3 May 2008. Where there had been order, regulations and a stronger hand forcing those to follow the rules, now some people will start running amok, possibly with no sense of where they are going or how to get there. We may not have much stability in the housing market and/or land prices, or it goes through a very sluggish time. Those ambitious ones amongst us, may feel they are getting nowhere or going backwards from their aims. They may have hoped in vain that their plans would take them in leaps and bounds up the corporate ladder. Alas a more propitious time will come for that.

Pluto is now in Capricorn and will remain in this sign for many years to come. We can expect that the established order of some things may be destroyed. Some establishments that appeared to be rock solid may now crumble or come apart at the seams. Some of these may include the British Royal family and its long held traditions. We may see a reigning monarch come to an end, once and for all. People will feel it is time to embrace a republican society rather than one dictated to by Royalty, the churches or the Pope.

The churches may also start to lose their audiences. There will be many transormations in the areas of power and government, and the people who currently hold the top jobs, as they will most likely find themselves out of their seats. Oh the times they are a changin'. We may need to toughen up a little because we are in for a bumpy ride.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in April 2008 are:

Sunday 13 April: Sun sextile Neptune. This is one of those days that will seem magical to those who are open and attuned to the cosmic vibrations around them. A positively inspiring day and one that will be long remembered as a day that brings the beautiful side of nature and life to our attention and the recognition that there are great wonders all around us, each and every day, if we just open our eyes and senses. Spend some time relaxing near the ocean and it will soothe your tired or restless soul. Music will be inspirational and those who are gifted in this area may create some magical lyrics or tunes. Opening a store selling musical or artistic products should fare well.

Tuesday 15 April: Mercury sextile Neptune. This is a wonderful alignment for us fragile human beings, especially if we wish to tune into the cosmos and see what is really there. This can be a brilliant day to tune in and discover some amazing enlightenment as to our place in the scheme of things. New publications released today will do well, especially if they can incorporate some measure of mystery in their stories. Starting a new book with a focus on the mysteries of the universe, dreams or psychic phenomena will turn out very well. Travel brochures will be eagerly snapped up today and bookings made for overseas destinations with great enthusiasm. The travel industry will have a busy day moving people from A to B in quick succession.

Wednesday 16 April. Sun conjunct Mercury. This aspect makes some people get really focussed mentally while others just get flustered or frazzled by too much grey matter being stimulated. For those who like a fast pace in their daily routine they will sail ahead smoothly and swiftly. The others will have to do it again probably, and then they will get it right. This is called a combust situation, where a planet is so close to the Sun and the Sun can literally burn up the other planet. This can cause a congestion of information on telephone lines, faxes, e-mails and even face to face communications, where one person is just not hearing the other or cannot seem to reach an agreement or get their heads together on the same issue. Postpone any really important negotiations until a better day. Some people will enjoy a day like this and they will not be agitated by the influx of interruptions or extra communications because they will literally thrive on it. At least they will not have a boring day. The rest of us will be somewhat confused and exhausted by the end of the day and be seeking some quiet time away from the demands of this modern world.

Friday 18 April: Mercury trine Pluto. This is the day that detectives and the police can uncover hidden motives, dead bodies, or anything else that has been covered over. Also a good time to start writing a mystery novel, solving a crossword puzzle, or doing that jigsaw. The mind will be penetrating and clear. Those who seek to discover what lies beneath the surface of things will be pleasantly surprised with what they find. Starting a new study course too will keep those in attendance in awe of what they learn.

Saturday 19 April. Mercury trine Saturn. This brings the kind of day to get truly focussed and organised, especially with paperwork, telephone calls and any demanding job that requires concentration and attention to detail. Maybe balance the cheque-book or start a new study course. Jobs commenced today may have long term obligations involved so if you are mature and keen to plant the seeds for things to grow slowly yet surely, take some action and get started today. This is also a good time to sit down and do some serious planning for your future. You will feel organised and enjoy the challenge of putting your life in order and meeting your obligations. Any new business proposal can be considered to be worth your effort or investigation.

Monday 21 April: Sun trine Pluto. This can prove to be a great time to try to remake yourself or change your spots, if you need to. A day to spring clean, get rid of the old and outworn and be refreshed by the newness of starting out on a new path. Someone in power may take a gigantic leap forward or be presented with an offer that almost seems too good to be true, but it will ultimately change the course of their destiny. A wonderful day to get married or start some new enterprise that involves reform or renovation in any way. If you wish to pull down the walls and rebuild them, this is the best time to do it. New relationships formed today, whether friendship or intimate, will literally put your life into a different perspective and possibly change your life forever.

Also today: Sun trine Saturn. This promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognised, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishment will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if this is what you are wishing for. People need to know that they can rely on you and know that you are the rock upon which others lean for guidance and wisdom. Various efforts made today will have very long range effects so invest some real effort into your endeavours, be there for the long haul and success will follow.

Wednesday 23 April: Mars trine Uranus. This is a combination that is electrifying and exciting. There will be some amazing stories in the news and those who seek to surprise and shock will capture the most attention. A great day to buy a new car, an aeroplane if you can afford one, or start an automotive business or even an electronics store. Inventive and original ideas, as well as using your initiative will be pay dividends, especially if you put some extra energy into your endeavors.

Saturday 26 April: Venus sextile Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects, the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element with their thoughts and imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products. This could be a heavenly day. Some people may be lucky enough to find their soul-mate. This is a magical time and will colour over all misgivings and produce a haze of wonder and delight that will leave you gasping. New friendships or romances commenced today seem idyllic and will restore your faith in humanity. People generally will appear to be more caring and compassionate. This is the kind of day when everything looks beautiful and inspirational. An ocean journey would be quite pleasurable to the senses or any other similar beautiful scenic location. A wisp of magical stardust will drift down from the heavens and gloss over today, inclining some romantic types to fall in love. The Sun will rise before you even had the chance to put out the candle lights.

Monday 28 April: Mercury trine Jupiter. This angle promises those who strive to see the bigger picture will do so and teach those who listen how to find it themselves. A great day to start a holiday or travel to places previously unseen. This could prove to be a great day to start writing a new book, open a book store or one associated with the travel industry. People will generally tend to be liberal and broad-minded in their thinking and approach to life. Also a favourable day to start teaching, lecturing or writing a lengthy project. The area of communications and information will be busy and any business started today that connects with these will fare well. This is a good time for negotiations and for getting your message across. The advertising and news media areas will be highly productive. There could be a merger between two large organisations, companies or countries, that can benefit everyone involved. Expansion is the key-word for the day, so plan to make this as positive a time as possible. A busy day for the travel industry and the Internet.

Also today: Mercury sextile Uranus. The grey matter can be stimulated and some will have flashes of insight into previously tricky problems. A great day to try to solve a puzzle or attempt some brainstorming. New ideas could revolutionise existing thoughts and make headway for some exciting new ones. There could be some new discoveries or inventions arise in the course of the day and those who are the geniuses on the planet will also be inspired more than usual. A good day to open a communications or other business involved in the transference of information or ideas. Starting to write, or even launching a new book could also prove highly successful and grab the attention of those seeking something new and different. This alignment holds the promise of surprise and excitement. If you wish to start a unique advertising campaign or launch your ideas out into the big wide world, choose this day to do it. Many communications will contain startling information or news that will surprise people. New websites or other communications businesses, such as magazines or newspapers, that are launched today will fare well but will need to be constantly coming up with new concepts and stimulating ideas to keep us entertained and enlightened.

Wednesday 30 April: Mercury sextile Mars. This is a high energy day on a mental level so people will want to voice their opinions or be vocal about what they consider important. A good day to start a new business that requires huge doses of both intellect and muscle. Also a good time to take a hike, enter a marathon run, or join up with a group of young people to swap ideas on how to get fit and stay healthy. This is also a time to become organised with your filing system, conquer the mountain of paperwork and then let off steam later in the gym for some muscle flexing.

The not so favourable days in April 2008 are:

Thursday 3 April: Mercury square Pluto. This is an aspect that will test those who are trying to push their wares or ideas on others, for resistance will be felt, which could be very subtle and hidden from view. Documents, alarming news and propaganda will claim the mass attention in some way so be alert and read everything thoroughly that you have to sign. Preferably wait for a more fortunate time to commence any new undertaking, especially if it involves taxes, insurance, or other joint monetary ventures. We need to guard against being manipulated or coerced into something we would rather not do. People who insist on digging up old matters from the past will find they cannot heal their wounds just yet, as it is too painful or confronting. There are likely to by many communications that should be mistrusted, whether verbal, e-mail or by letter. Documents may be misleading or have loop holes that are indiscernible. Agreements are unlikely or will be fraught with problems.

Monday 7 April: Venus clashes with Pluto. Not the best kind of day to start a new romance, friendship, or get engaged or married. Hidden motives or jealousy could set the tone for a disastrous relationship, so avoid those tall dark strangers who surround themselves in mystery and intrigue. Do not trust anyone you meet for the first time, no matter how enticing it may seem. You could get caught in the black widow spider’s web of deceit and corruption. Some people may violate others rights and con them into believing they are onto something wonderful, however the wolf in sheep’s clothing is very near the door. People who harbor grudges will be on every corner so avoid any entanglement that shows any sign whatsoever of someone who is bitter or twisted in any way. However this may be hard to pinpoint, due the deceptive element of this aspect.

Thursday 10 April: Sun square Jupiter: Not the kind of day to make promises that you later may find hard to keep. So don’t try to talk or discuss philosophical issues with those in positions of power or associated with the legal sector of society. Some human rights may be violated on a day like this. Not the kind of day to be caught up in a big crowd as things can get out of hand and problems arise to do with large gatherings of people, especially near big buildings or law courts. Do not start any new business venture unless you have a lot of capital to back you up when things don’t pan out as much, or as soon as, you had hoped for. I also would not recommend getting married as it may prove to be a heavy burden involving more than you can safely or adequately handle.

Friday 11 April: Mercury square Mars. This is not the day to buy a new car, start a new business or take on more than you can handle. Some people may make hasty or rash decisions, and will wish they hadn't very soon after. Some people may stretch the brawn or the brain, or both, and end up with sore muscles or a headache. I would not advise starting a long road or rail journey. The news may not be what we want to hear and bad news tends to travel fast on days like this too. Also don't expect people to be patient or tolerant today and do not attempt to reach amicable agreements as people just won't be in the mood, or just too rushed to listen. Some people may not take enough care with their speech, taking one foot out of the mouth only to replace it with the other foot just as quickly.

Monday 14 April: Mercury square Jupiter. Big plans made today may not fulfil your initial requirements, further down the road. If you order one hundred of something, it may turn out that you only needed five. The emphasis will be on expansion and learning, but the effort and enthusiasm will be just as big an ask. Commit only to what you are suited to, or else you could find yourself out on a limb in less time that you can say your name. It would be wise not to commit yourself to anything today that could bring you possible legal difficulties further down the road. People will over-commit or take on more than is wise and choke on it all at a later time. People cannot be trusted to do as they say or follow through on obligations.

Thursday 24 April: Venus square Mars. This is a contentious aspect between Venus, the planet of love and harmony, and Mars, the God of War. This can be highly problematic when it comes to relationships. Men and women will generally speaking not see eye to eye, or they both have a totally different agenda. This is not a good day to have a first date, get engaged or married. There is too much potential discord and people only seeing the physical or exterior of each other rather than the true personality. Physical attraction will be the name of the game so if you are the sensitive, emotional and romantic kind, do not get involved with a new partner around this time as this is definitely not the roses and candlelight aspect. This is more than likely going to bring about hot and steamy encounters that often are not long lasting, though they can be if each person is highly evolved and mature. Advertising aimed at seductive techniques though could be highly rewarding and capture the necessary sexual fantasies of those who are vulnerable to such luring promises.

Also today: Venus square Jupiter. This is not perhaps the worst day in the month, unless you are going shopping with that brand new credit card and get carried away by all the goodies on offer. Things will be over-done and lavish and if you apply this in relation to a party, well at least everyone will have a good time, even if they do eat and drink too much or start some new relationship that seems inappropriate to their status. Weddings held today will be big, brash, boastful and very expensive. Diamond dealers may have a good retail trading day as will businesses selling perfumes, flowers, clothing, jewellery and other items of beauty and adornment.

Also today: Mars opposition Jupiter. This alignment can stir things up in the world. Don’t challenge the law courts today or take on a big project where you are expecting a favourable outcome. Chances are your energies will be wasted or misused or you will be incorrectly guided about a very serious and important matter. Avoid large groups of people or situations where things can be blown out of all proportion to the matter at hand. Not a good day to travel, so plan another day if possible. A judge or magistrate may have a contentious issue to deal with that will be difficult to dissolve and cause embarrassment to someone in a high position, perhaps even to themselves. Some people may go out of their way to make a big splash and could overdo in more ways than one. Unfortunately this can also bring some fracas within the legal system and those who uphold it, so stay away from those doing things to excess, lest you get caught up in their enthusiasm and get led astray and into the arms of the law. Some people who manifest the negative energies of this placement may feel that might makes right and clashes of muscles versus the law can erupt. Not the day to get married or form any other legally binding relationship. Not a day to buy a car or test your strength. Those who speed down the highway, may bring about untold misery for themselves and others.

Tuesday 29 April: Mercury square Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of illusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.
