Looking For Fun

General overview for May 2008.

May is going to be another relatively busy month as we have a total of 12 alignments. There are more positive alignments (7) than the not so favourable ones (5). The month starts with Venus being quite active, so our love lives will be more important to us. As there are some lovely aspects involving either the Sun or Venus this month, I think we should start looking for some fun in our lives. Sometimes we need to step outside our normal routines and just go out there and live it up a little, or a lot, depending on our energy levels. Life can be so hum drum and boring, so add a little zest and become a little more playful with your days.

On another note, the Sun rules royalty and Venus rules love, so I am wondering if we might hear an engagement announcement from the palace!

There are four planets changing signs, namely Mercury to Gemini; Mars to Leo; the Sun to Gemini and Venus to Gemini, in that order.

In chronological order the changes in the heavens this month are: Mercury enters Gemini on 3 May; also today Saturn turns direct; there will be a New Moon at 15 Taurus on 5 May; Jupiter turns retrograde on 9 May; Mars enters Leo on 10 May; there will be a Full Moon on 20 May; the life-giving Sun will enter Gemini on 21 May; Venus will enter Gemini on 25 May and lastly Neptune turns retrograde on 27 May.

Moving right along...

Mercury enters Gemini on 3 May. Mercury, the nimble planet is very happy being in this sign as this is an air sign and Mercury is the great communicator. We may see more emphasis on people stating their views and opinions, regardless of whether anyone is really listening. There may be an emphasis on twins and Siamese twins being born especially between 20 May and 21 June 2008. Communications and the Internet will thrive and everyone wants to have a say about something, even if it is just meaningless chatter. The flexibility however associated with this combination can mean the decisions and actions change with the wind flow. Time can be wasted going over needless details more than once. Paperwork will seem to pile into mountains and people get RSI signing their name.

Saturn turns direct on 3 May. This can assist those people who are mature and well organised to get back on track if things have not been that way during the previous four and a half months. The health industry may now become more concerned about people receiving the best possible treatment. Matters connected to the environment may take on a more serious and responsible approach, which is not a day too soon.

There will be a New Moon at 15 Taurus on 5 May. This is an ideal time to get practical and perhaps even open a new savings account. Whatever you set in motion now can be quite long-lasting.

Jupiter turns retrograde on 9 May and remains in this phase up until 8 September 2008. This I feel will reflect in many and varied ways according to your own unique position and beliefs about life, as Jupiter has rulership over faith. This could prove to be a time when some of us will question our faith and whether it is strong enough to sustain us in trying times. The earthquake in Bam in Iran would have to be one of those disasters, where those who are affected would question why this has happened to them. Their beliefs may undergo scrutiny and re-assessment. Some may feel they can no longer believe what they have always believed and may have a change of heart about how they will now view their lives. Jupiter also has to do with the courts and the justice system, so here again there may be some long drawn out situations, or perhaps a decision is made that is challenged by many who disagree with the initial outcome. Some people may want the justice system changed to incorporate capital punishment, and whether this is a wise choice or not, is not for me to decide. We could also see further incidents to do with issues surrounding some of the older and more established industries and government departments.

Mars enters Leo on 10 May and remains in this sign up until 2 July 2008. During this time we may see attention focussed on the price of gold. There will also be added focus on the entertainment world, movies and glamorous people stepping out and being counted and noticed, especially for anything outstanding that they do or announce around this time. Extravagance and luxury will be in the news and people buying up big and being generous and lavish in their expenditures. Credit cards will be utilised with careless abandon. Spending will be seen to show off power and oblivious to what the ‘have nots’ do not have. The Lords and Ladies of the world will be in their element and dressing up and going out with no thought for the rest of the world.

There will be a Full Moon on 20 May with the Sun at 29 degrees Taurus and the Moon at 29 degrees Scorpio. This is an intense Full Moon and one that may incline some people to dig in their heels and be literally immovable. Flexibility is unlikely, though highly recommended to bear in mind at this time. Possessions, one’s own and that of others may be a serious theme today.

The life-giving Sun will enter Gemini on 21 May and remain in this sign one whole calendar month up until 21 June 2008. During this time there will be emphasis on communications, doing things in two’s and there could even be some significant births of twins during this time that is in the news. Even Siamese twins may occur more than usual. The communications industry will be in full swing and some people speaking before they put their brain into gear. Games and puzzles will be sought after and sales increases in these areas or to do with prankish ideas and themes.

Venus will enter Gemini on 25 May and remain in this sign up until 19 June 2008. Thoughts can turn to matters of peace and harmony and some negotiations are likely to be reached by those who try hard enough to achieve an amicable agreement. If people have the purest possible intentions, then this can be a time of gaining some universal solutions to difficult problems. Artists, writers, musicians and poets may produce some wonderful works and can sell these ideas to the public with relative ease. However Gemini is a changeable sign, so don’t count on stability or people sticking to their decisions. They could be in love with one person one day, and off looking at someone else the next.

Neptune turns retrograde on 27 May and remains in this phase up until 2 November 2008. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and illusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde may have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde may lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

Jupiter will continue its transit of Capricorn and remain in this sign up until 5 May 2009. Now is the time to get serious about our personal lives, our goals and assess what our real responsibilities are, to ourselves and to others. It is a time of planning and preparation for the future. This could also prove to be a fortunate time to invest in the property market, buildings or in any solid and long established company. Taking care of our planet and the environment will also become of paramount importance to many people who will do whatever they can to protect our children and their future on this wonderful planet we call Earth.

Pluto is still retrograde and remains in this phase up until 8 September. This does not make me happy!! Hear that Universe? Whilst there are always opportunities to learn from deep inside ourselves during a Pluto retrograde phase, I still prefer this mover and shaker to be in direct motion. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess your current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards life, death, and even sex, to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, explore your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2008 after back-tracking into Sagittarius. Pluto will then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in May 2008 are:

Thursday 1 May: Venus trine Pluto. This is a magnificent combination and can produce a great day for those seeking true love. I adore this kind of planetary formation. If you should happen to meet a new lover today you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved and very quickly too. This is also a good day to get married, start a new business enterprise, especially if it involves regeneration themes, getting fit or to do with women’s products and services.

Monday 12 May. Mars sextile Uranus. This is a combination that is electrifying and exciting. There will be some amazing stories in the news and those who seek to surprise and shock will capture the most attention. A great day to buy a new car, an aeroplane if you can afford one, or start an automotive business or even an electronics store. Inventive and original ideas, as well as using your initiative will be pay dividends, especially if you put some extra energy into your endeavours.

Friday 15 May: Venus trine Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. New businesses involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you can stick it out for the long haul.

Monday 12 May. Sun sextile Uranus. This is a very electrical kind of day and one that can bring enormous excitement into people’s lives. Be prepared for the unexpected and the unusual and you will not be disappointed. A great day to go exploring, visit a place you have never been to before, start a new and exciting job or business, especially if it is connected to electronics, the Internet or aviation. Some people will come up with some potentially revolutionary ideas today and inventors will be inspired to bring something new and dazzling to the rest of us. New friendships started today will be very different to what you are used to and could literally turn your life around.

Tuesday 13 May: Sun trine Jupiter. This is a beautiful alignment of the life-giving Sun with expansive Jupiter. It can provide us with the inspiration and faith to get any new endeavour under way with enthusiasm and sincerity of purpose. Open an entertainment centre or have a huge banquet or festival then and it will go off like a rocket to the Moon. This is also a good day to get married, start new friendships and any project involved with gold, glamour or places of amusement or the publishing industry. It is also one of the better kind of planetary times to commence just about anything that is important to you. A new store or business opening today would do well if focussed on books, publishing, the travel industry or to do with the law. If you strive for success on a day like this you are likely to achieve your goal. This is also a good time to start an overseas holiday.

Sunday 18 May. Venus sextile Uranus. Those who dare to be innovative will capture the attention of their audience in a startling and exciting way during this time. Love relationships started today will be different in as many ways as there are stars in the sky. People involved in the arts, musical, beauty or related fields will be very productive and become more creative and inventive than usual. Those who wish to shock the conservative ones will be pleasantly surprised at how well they are actually accepted. The more unique your product or talent that you wish to show or sell will prove highly prosperous. A good day to get married, go on a first date, buy new clothes or throw a party or become involved in any form of entertainment.

Monday 19 May: Venus trine Jupiter. This is a brilliant day for getting engaged, married or starting a new romance or friendship. Also good for opening a new business, especially if it is connected to women’s products, entertainment, the travel industry or foreign relations. Throwing a lavish party will also meet with success, though could be very costly. Starting a long distance journey, voyage or holiday could put you on a new learning curve and would be highly enjoyable and may result in a new love interest in your life, if you are single and fancy free.

Thursday 22 May: Jupiter sextile Uranus. This is an exceptionally positive alignment where we are able to embrace the bigger picture through different eyes. Some inventors out there may make some amazing discoveries and bring to the world some ideas that will literally blow us away. Travel will be exciting and very adventurous during this time. We can start our lives over with a new point of view if we choose to do so.

The not so favourable days in May 2008 are:

Sunday 4 May: Mercury square Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.

Thursday 15 May: Sun square Neptune. Not the day to trust strangers, get involved in any project you know little about or to be trusting even with those whom you thought would never deceive you. Con artists will flourish today so make sure you know all the facts about someone before you even dare hand over a dollar of your hard earned income to them. There could be a big drug haul occur today and they may even get away with it, unless of course an insider wants to get them busted for a previous indiscretion involving a matter of trust that went badly wrong. Don’t get married today or start any new business for there will be hidden traps for the unwary or the gullible. This alignment is potentially very secretive and people are prone to be susceptible to major confusion. Some who are into swindling and scams will pull the wool over the eyes of those who are gullible and take everything at face value. There will be wolves hiding beneath sheep’s clothing. There will be many who will camouflage their true colours, so for those who are wearing blinkers, you may suffer at their hands. To put it simply, as I have said before, trust everyone, but cut the cake yourself. Drugs may be found in unlikely places or hidden by people whom you would not suspect. Just remember, no-one should be above reproach. Beware of danger or problems near the ocean, gas, oil wells, and take care that there is nothing contaminating your food or drinks. Poisoning can occur for the unwary. Friendships formed today need to pass the test of time before people are considered trustworthy. Someone in power may be on an ego trip and try to call someone's bluff on a major issue. Do not trust strangers or any new kids on the block, so to speak.

Tuesday 20 May: Venus square Neptune. This unhelpful alignment may lure some people who are planning to mix business with pleasure and this brings about disappointment, loss or other confusion due to outright deception or serious camouflage. It is not the time to commit to a relationship or even a friendship, for there is likely to be something glossed over that hides the real truth or some elementary ugliness. An apparent secure relationship may come unstuck and reveal a trail of dishonesty, treachery and lies. Those who live life on the surface and pretend to be happy will be faced with having to show their dirty washing and there may still be something lurking in their pockets. Check all facts and any new faces you meet today.

Friday 23 May: Sun square Saturn. There are potential limitations imposed by this angle. This influence is not conducive to asking for a raise, getting married, taking on a new job, starting a new business or even going for an interview. Chances are there will be problems, delays, restrictions or other depressing conditions to cope with if you try to tackle difficult problems on a day like this. No new ventures should be decided upon or started to avoid problems that could last for many years to come. This can be a disappointing day if you plan to make any significant personal decision that affects your well being and your future plans. This can have long-term ramifications so choose wisely. Not the day to approach the boss for a raise, as people in power are prone to be unreachable. There can be barriers or walls to challenge those who try to make peaceful negotiations, so refrain from these today where possible. An elderly person or a VIP may be in the news and showing concern for their safety or position. Someone in power or politics or royalty may lose their status or standing in the community.

Tuesday 27 May: Venus square Saturn. Not a good day to get married, start a new relationship or go on a first date. Any one of these will be productive of delays, limitations or burdens and other difficulties that will be hard to overcome. People will tend to be hard to reach or fathom or understand. Barriers that tend to divide will be more noticeable than usual. Do not start a new business today, especially if it involves women’s products, beauty, music or the arts. Not a good day to try to reach amicable agreements, especially with those near and dear to you. Some will tend to become disappointed in a big way. The air is filled with distance and coldness so don’t attempt to make up with your lover if you have had a fight, as they will not want to hear your plight and may just turn their back and walk the other way. Friendships and new romances will not get off to a good start and may involve heavy responsibilities later on or you find out you have to look after them more than is healthy. Not a good day to start a new business as the setbacks and delays may curtail your freedom and not be worth the effort applied.
