Your Mind Is Your Most Powerful Tool

General overview for May 2005.

This month of May has seven very helpful planetary alignments and seven to challenge us yet again.

Once again, below, I have listed all the dates in 2005 where some of the planets change direction. Each month I will look at how this can manifest in our lives according to which planet is changing sign and/or direction.

Jupiter remains retrograde for another month up until 5 June 2005.
27 March Pluto turned retrograde for 5 months up until 2 September 2005.
19 May Neptune goes retrograde for 5 months up until 25 October 2005.
05 June Jupiter turns direct.
14 June Uranus turns retrograde for 5 months up until 15 November 2005.
23 July Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks up until 15 August.
16 August Mercury turns direct.
02 September Pluto turns direct.
01 October Mars turns retrograde for over 2 months up until 9 December 2005.
14 November Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks until 3 December 2005.
15 November Uranus goes direct.
22 November Saturn turns retrograde for over 4 months up until 4 May 2006.
04 December Mercury goes direct.
10 December Mars goes direct.

Pluto is still retrograde and will remain in that phase up until 2 September. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, and will literally turn your life around when making alignments to your own personal planets. However, when in retrograde phase it allows you the opportunity, once again to re-assess you current motives, your passions, your intimate relationships and your attitude towards, life, death, and even sex to decide if what you have chosen in recent times is for your overall good and development. Personally I prefer it when Pluto is in direct motion, but as I have said before, we can’t always have the planets where we want them or going in the direction we may prefer. Utilise this time to delve into your subconscious, go exploring your deepest psyche and uncover elements that you thought were hidden, even from yourself, and analyse them as if your life depended on it. The revelations you may experience may literally wipe your current slate clean and allow you to pursue your goals with absolute freedom when Pluto resumes direct motion in September 2005. Pluto will remain in Sagittarius until 27 November 2008. It will retrograde back into Sagittarius for five months starting in June 2008 and then re-enter Capricorn in late November 2008.

Jupiter is still in apparent reverse motion for another month in the partnership sign of Libra and remain there until 5 June 2005. This I feel will reflect in many and varied way according to our own unique position and beliefs about life. Jupiter rules our faith. This could prove to be a time when some of us will question our faith and whether it is strong enough to sustain us in trying times. The recent devastating tsunami would have to be one of those catastrophic disasters, where those who are affected, would question why this has happened to them. Their beliefs may undergo scrutiny and re-assessment. Some may feel they can no longer believe what they have always believed and may have a change of heart about how they will now view their lives. Jupiter also has to do with the courts and the justice system, so here again there may be some long drawn out situations, or perhaps a decision is made that is challenged by many who disagree with the initial outcome. Some people may want the justice system changed to incorporate capital punishment, and whether this is a wise choice or not, is not for me to decide. We could also see further incidents to do with the issues of right and wrong, and also on relationships and marriage as Libra is associated with partnerships and unions of all kinds.

Mars will enter Pisces on 1 May 2005 for a stay of 43 days and remain there until 12 June and this has various connotations to consider. Pisces is a sensitive and humanitarian sign, and Mars can be brash and overly eager to get things moving. Some people may misdirect their energies during this time and their actions may contradict their intentions. Heated emotions are likely to result in unconscious actions which don’t know how to express themselves. Stay away from brooding types and those who are somewhat shady, to say the least. There could be some fires, accidents or explosions connected to oil wells, petrol stations and angst connected to any of these or the shipping industry.

Venus will enter Gemini on Tuesday 10 May for a stay of 24 days up until 3 June. Thoughts can turn to matters of peace and harmony and some negotiations are likely to be reached by those who try hard enough to achieve an amicable agreement. If people have the purest possible intentions, then this can be a time of gaining some universal solutions to difficult problems. Artists, writers, musicians and poets may produce some wonderful works and can sell these ideas to the public with relative ease. However Gemini is a changeable sign, so don’t count on stability or people sticking to their decisions. They could be in love with one person one day, and off looking at someone else the next.

Mercury will enter Taurus on Thursday 12 May for a stay of 16 days up until 28 May. This will see a focus on financial matters, financial institutions such as banks and building societies and interest rates. The positives are that some people can use this time for serious mental concentration and get things done if they plod away long enough. Thoughts of stabilisation will be uppermost in various people’s minds. Someone connected with the arts may be in the news and receiving lots of attention. The negatives are that some will become opinionated and stubborn in their thinking and unable to move beyond their philosophical boundaries that are set in concrete. Some people will be immovable and unshakeable from their roots or their home turf.

Neptune will turn retrograde on Friday 20 May for a stay of approximately five and a half months up until 26 October 2005. Neptune is the planet of high ideals and elusion. It is also the planet that dissolves situations including ice, icebergs, snow and hail. It can also produce mud slides. This planet was the pivotal planet in the event chart of the landslide in Thredbo. Whilst Jupiter retrograde may have seen many of us go through of period of questioning whether we have enough faith to sustain us, Neptune retrograde may lead some of us to question our ideals and our views on reality. This is also the planet related to drugs and alcohol. There may be far more people finding secret places to hide their trade, and this will make it harder to track those bringing illegal substances in and out of the various countries.

The life-giving Sun will enter Gemini, the sign of the twins, on Saturday 21 May for one whole calendar month up until 21 June. During this time there will be emphasis on communications, doing things in two’s and there could even be some significant births of twins during this time that is in the news. Even Siamese twins may occur more than usual. The communications industry will be in full swing and some people speaking before they put their brain into gear. Games and puzzles will be sought after and sales increases in these areas or to do with prankish ideas and themes.

There will be a Full Moon with the Sun at 2 degrees Gemini and the Moon at 2 degrees Sagittarius on Monday 23 May. For those who have personal planets at this degree, you may reach a new perspective on a current situation and be able to reach into the future with confidence. For some it can spell a turning point in life.

Swiftly moving Mercury will enter its own sign of Gemini on Saturday 28 May for a stay of 15 days up until 11 June 2005. Mercury, the nimble planet is very happy being in this sign as this is an air sign and Mercury is the great communicator. We may see more emphasis on people stating their views and opinions, regardless of whether anyone is really listening. There may be an emphasis on twins and Siamese twins being born especially between 6 June and 20 June 2005. Communications and the Internet will thrive and everyone wants to have a say about something, even if it is just meaningless chatter. The flexibility however associated with this combination can mean the decisions and actions change with the wind flow. Time can be wasted going over needless details more than once. Paperwork will seem to pile into mountains and people get RSI signing their name.

This month I feel is one that we can really get our teeth into as there are enough positive energies to combat the negative ones if we can put our mind to it. After-all our mind is our most powerful tool and can be used to create the life that we want. Neptune is going retrograde, yet there are just as many positive aspects to this planet this month as there are negative ones. We each can determine our own sense of reality and use our imagination to its highest degree, if we just choose to use it that way. Others will be deceptive and perhaps blindfold those of us who are gullible and unaware that there are cheats and liars out there who will take us down the garden path to the murky waters of mankind, if we allow them to. We imagine our life and then we create it. We decide how to make the most of it, or who we will allow to lead us astray. These are our own choices, regardless of how we may resist this notion. There is enough power in our own minds to lead us towards success and happiness, we just have to tap into it and let it all happen.

For horary enthusiasts, continuing all month we still observe Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces indicating that they are still in mutual reception.

Now down to the specifics of daily planetary activity.

The favourable days in May 2005 are:

Wednesday 4 May: Venus sextile Saturn. This is the type of alignment that suggests a good time for entering into new negotiations, friendships or marriage. New businesses involved in the finance industry, or to do with women’s products and services, florists and perfumes will prosper if you are prepared to stick it out for the long haul. Most long-range plans set in place now will eventually make the grade if there is sufficient energy expended.

Also on Wednesday 4 May: Mercury sextile Neptune. This is a quite favourable alignment for us fragile human beings, especially if we wish to tune into the cosmos and see what is really there. A brilliant day to tune into the Cosmos for some amazing enlightenment. New publications released today will do well, especially if they can incorporate some measure of mystery into their stories. Starting a new book focussing on the mysteries of the Universe, dreams or psychic phenomena will proceed very well. Travel brochures will be eagerly snapped up today and bookings made for overseas destinations with great enthusiasm. The travel industry in particular will have a busy day moving people from A to B in quick succession.

Sunday 8 May: Mercury trine Pluto. This is the day that detectives and the police can uncover hidden motives, dead bodies, or anything else that has been covered over. Also a good time to start writing a mystery novel, solving a crossword puzzle, or doing that jigsaw. The mind will be penetrating and clear. Those who seek to discover what lies beneath the surface of things will be pleasantly surprised with what they find. Starting a new study course too will keep those in attendance in awe of what they learn. (Please also note the unhelpful Sun/Neptune alignment on the same day).

Friday 13 May: Sun sextile Saturn. This promises to keep the established order of things on the right track. If you wish to impress the boss, or show them how responsible and hard working you are, then choose today to make your move. Choose to be upstanding, conservative and reliable and your efforts will be recognised, perhaps not overnight, but it will happen. Applying for jobs in the public service or other traditional establishment will meet with success if you follow the rules to the T. Dress conservatively, obey orders, be on time, and you will surely rise up the corporate ladder if this is what you are wishing for. People need to know that they can rely on you and know that you are the rock upon which others lean on for guidance and wisdom. Various efforts made today will have very long range effects so put some real effort into your endeavours, and if you can be there for the long haul, success will follow.

Wednesday 18 May: Venus trine Jupiter. This is a brilliant day for getting engaged, married or starting a new romance or friendship. Also good for opening a new business, especially if it is connected to women’s products, entertainment, the travel industry or foreign relations. Throwing a lavish party will also meet with success, though could be very costly. Starting a long distance journey, voyage or holiday could put you on a new learning curve and would be highly enjoyable and may result in a new love interest in your life, if you are single and fancy free.

Also on Wednesday 18 May: Mercury sextile Uranus. This is a day for the scientists, the astrologers, inventors, pilots and the aviation industry to be highly productive. Flashes of insight are possible for those who are open minded. A great day to launch a product that is original and designed to have some kind of shock appeal. Some people will get the best ideas they have ever come up with so start a brainstorming session today and it will continue well into the evening due to the high mental energy.

Friday 20 May: Mercury sextile Mars. This is a high energy day on a mental level so people will want to voice their opinions or be vocal about what they consider important. A good day to start a new business that requires huge doses of both intellect and muscle. Also a good time to take a hike, enter a marathon run, or join up with a group of young people to swap ideas on how to get and stay fit and healthy. This is also a time to become organised with your filing system, conquer the mountain of paperwork and then let off steam later in the gym for some muscle flexing.

Tuesday 24 May: Venus trine Neptune. This is just wonderful for a first date, getting engaged or married or throwing a huge party or other social gathering. If you utilise the themes of the ocean, romantic or magical effects the outcome will be truly fascinating for all those who participate. Musicians, artists and poets will be in their element and thoughts and the imagination flowing freely and inspired by the mystical aspects of the Universe. A good day to open a business focussing on the elements of beauty, flowers, crystals, perfumes and women’s products.

Wednesday 25 May: Mercury sextile Saturn. This brings the kind of day to get truly focussed and organised, especially with paperwork, telephone calls and any demanding job that requires concentration and attention to detail. Maybe balance the cheque-book or start a new study course. Jobs commenced today may have long term obligations involved so if you are mature and keen to plant the seeds for things to grow slowly yet surely, take some action and get started today. This is also a good time to sit down and do some serious planning for your future. You will feel organised and enjoy the challenge of putting your life in order and meeting your obligations. Any new business proposal can be considered to be worth your effort or investigation.

The not so favourable days in May 2005 are:

Saturday 7 May: Mercury square Saturn. This is not the day to make agreements as they may involve regulations and obligations that tie you up in knots. There could be some serious decisions made that affect people long after the present. The Mercurial influence could be darkened by sombre Saturn’s habit of making it difficult to see eye to eye and reach amicable agreements about any of these matters. However, those who are wise can instruct those who are not. Those who refuse to take a wider view will only alienate themselves from a comfortable position and find themselves on the other side of the wall. This though can be a good day for serious study. It is not good for purchasing land or other real estate. If you do, then make sure there are no potential problems to do with dampness or rising water levels in the area.

Sunday 8 May: Sun square Neptune. Not the day to trust strangers, get involved in any project you know little about or to be trusting even with those whom you thought would never deceive you. Con artists will flourish today so make sure you know all the facts about someone before you even dare hand over a dollar of your hard earned income to them. There could be a big drug haul occur today and they may even get away with it, unless of course an insider wants to get them busted for a previous indiscretion involving a matter of trust that went badly wrong. Don’t get married today or start any new business for there will be hidden traps for the unwary or the gullible. This alignment is potentially very secretive and people are prone to be susceptible to major confusion. Some who are into swindling and scams will pull the wool over the eyes of those who are gullible and take everything at face value. There will be wolves hiding beneath sheep’s clothing. There will be many who will camouflage their true colours, so for those who are wearing blinkers, you may suffer at their hands. To put it simply, as I have said before, trust everyone, but cut the cake yourself. Drugs may be found in unlikely places or hidden by people whom you would not suspect. Just remember, no-one should be above reproach. Beware of danger or problems near the ocean, gas, oil wells, and take care that there is nothing contaminating your food or drinks. Poisoning can occur for the unwary. Friendships formed today need to pass the test of time before people are considered trustworthy. Someone in power may be on an ego trip and try to call someone's bluff on a major issue. Do not trust strangers or any new kids on the block, so to speak. (Please also note that there is a very helpful Mercury/Pluto alignment today).

Sunday 15 May: Mars conjunct Uranus. This is a highly explosive and accident prone time, so do not start out on any new journey or buy a car today. Try to avoid working with heavy machinery or electrical items as it is likely something will go horribly wrong. Plans will be unsettled and errors likely to arise quite unexpectedly. Take your time if people start to get pushy or forceful. Riots can develop easily so avoid large gatherings or people who are out to start a fight. Do not make any particularly personal decisions today as this could be fraught with problems and dangerous conditions. Unstable weather is also likely, especially anything such as earthquakes and hurricanes etc. (There was a similar aspect between these two planets just a few days after the Tsunami on 26 December 2004).

Thursday 19 May: Venus square Uranus. This can throw a spanner in the works or a curve ball your way that you were not anticipating. As this is a not so favourable influence for starting new friendships, relationships of getting married, I would wait for a more opportune blending of heavenly star patterns. If unions are commenced today they may be brief or the person leaves very abruptly with almost no warning. Those who choose today to marry may find themselves in the divorce courts before too long. It is an OK time to have a masquerade party or other social event where people are permitted to let their hair down and be as wild as they wish. Just don’t expect new liaisons to be long-term, nor get involved in financial affairs that have the slightest suggestion of risk.

Sunday 22 May: Mercury square Neptune. This is one of those potentially deceitful days when people can easily colour over their mistakes and present a picture that is marred inside and out, if you would only lift the veil of elusion to view the ugly and distorted truth. It is wise not to sign any important documents on a day like this as there will be more loopholes than found in a fish-net. Those who generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt will prove to be the most vulnerable. Do not believe all you read or hear today as there will be lies and deception running rampant.

Monday 23 May: Venus square Mars. This can be highly problematic when it comes to relationships. Men and women will generally speaking not see eye to eye, or they both have a totally different agenda. This is not a good day to have a first date, get engaged or married. There is too much potential discord and people only seeing the physical or exterior of each other rather than the true personality. Physical attraction will be the name of the game so if you are the sensitive, emotional and romantic kind, do not get involved with a new partner around this time as this is definitely not the roses and candlelight aspect. This is more than likely going to bring about hot and steamy encounters that often are not long lasting, though they can be if each person is highly evolved and mature. Advertising aimed at seductive techniques though could be highly rewarding and capture the necessary sexual fantasies of those who are vulnerable to such luring promises.

Sunday 29 May: Venus opposition Pluto. This is not the day to start a significant new relationship, personal or business orientated. There will be the element of subversive actions and misdirected intentions. The urge to control, manipulate and possess will be the element underlying some people's motives. Some will feel inexorably drawn towards people and situations that are no good for them and tangle themselves in situations they would later regret. If you should happen to meet a new lover under this influence you will be radically changed overnight. This new person will seem magnetic and passionate. You may feel you have been put under a spell, and in a way you are right. This influence is deep, hypnotic and highly sexual, so expect to go into a relationship and become totally and intimately involved, and very quickly too.
